Some Celtic fans are making it clear that they want to see their club sign Slovan Bratislava striker Andraz Sporar in the upcoming January transfer window soon.

The Hoops had drawn links with the Slovenian star earlier this week, as they look to bolster their attack for the second half of the campaign. The report also said that the Hoops have been monitoring Sporar for a while now.

Celtic fans: Would Sporar be a good signing?

Get him in!

Get him in!

Not for that fee

Not for that fee

And Slovan Bratislava chief Ivan Kmotrick has recently talked about how the Hoops have been trying to sign the striker in recent days.

He said: “It is true that Celtic has sent us a specific offer and has shown an enormous interest in Andraz Sporar. Other strong clubs from countries such as France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Belgium have also heard from us.

“The interest is great and we expect it to be even more pronounced during the transition period. I think its price is much higher (than €5.5m). I cannot imagine selling Andraz for less than €7m-€8million.”

Celtic fans are very encouraged about this piece of news.

The 25-year-old striker has been in impressive form for his current club so far this season. In all competitions, he has played 26 times and has found the back of the net a total of 20 times too. He also has a tally of five assists.

In the Europa League, Sporar has impressed in front of goal this season. He has played six times in the competition so far, finding the back of the net five times and racking up two assists.

Last season, his numbers were just as impressive. He has played 36 times in all competitions for the club. He found the back of the net 34 times and racked up a tally of nine assists as well.

For the Slovenian national team, he has scored 19 times since making a debut in 2016. He has found the back of the net twice.

What do we think?

Going around the fee that Slovan Bratislava want for Sporar could well be too much for Celtic. They’re clearly trying to make the interest public so that they can get the most out of a possible sale of their prized asset. They’ve seen the interest from many clubs and want to make the most out of it. If they ask for anything around the Hoops’ record fee, Celtic should back out. They can’t shell out a record fee for a second-choice striker.
