Some Celtic fans are hailing Hoops stopper, Fraser Forster, as probably the best goalkeeper they’ve ever seen in the club’s history till date.

Forster was key to helping Celtic win their 19th League Cup title in history on Sunday. While it was Christopher Jullien whose goal gave Neil Lennon’s men the win, Forster made a very good save from Alfredo Morelos’ penalty in the second-half to give Celtic an upper hand in the game (BBC).

Jeremie Frimpong was sent off, but despite that the Bhoys managed to pick up a huge win against their fierce rivals.

Celtic fans: Is Forster the best goalkeeper in club's history

I'm very sure he is!

But some Celtic fans are hailing Forster as the best goalkeeper they’ve ever seen.

Forster joined the Hoops this past summer on a loan deal from Southampton, where he was falling out of favour under manager Ralph Hasenhuttl. But his current stint at Parkhead has helped Forster recover his form and mojo.

This season, Forster has featured 20 times in all competitions for the Hoops, keeping as many as nine clean sheets during this time. He has conceded only 13 goals too.

Last season though, things had become tough and bleak for Forster. He had played once in the Premier League, as Angus Gunn had become the regular first-choice under Mark Hughes and Hasenhuttl. He had also played only three times in the Premier League 2 for the Saints’ Under-23s side.

This is Forster’s second stint at Celtic, as he had joined Southampton from the Bhoys back in the summer of 2014 for a fee of £10million.

What do we think?

Forster has been at the club for less than half a season in his second stint. But it is his first spell and the combination of the ongoing one that can make many Hoops fans say that he’s the best goalkeeper in the club’s history. His numbers make for a pleasing read this season and he is doing enough for these fans to be recalled by Gareth Southgate for the England national team.
