Some Celtic fans are hailing Scott Brown as the greatest player in the country after the club’s recent Scottish League Cup final win against their fierce rivals.

Neil Lennon managed to pick up his first League Cup crown and it is the only domestic title he hadn’t won in his career before Sunday’s achievements. He has won the Premiership and the Scottish Cup with the Hoops before.

It was a Christopher Jullien second-half goal that helped the Hoops win their 19th League Cup crown. But the game also saw Fraser Forster saw an Alfredo Morelos penalty, while Jeremie Frimpong was sent off in the second-half too (BBC).

Celtic fans: Is Brown the best Celtic player ever?

Not even a question!

But Celtic fans are going gaga over a Twitter post from the club’s captain Scott Brown.

Scott Brown has arguably been one of Celtic’s most influential players of the decade and of the ongoing 21st century. The League Cup win on Sunday was his fifth win of the trophy with Celtic and he had won one of them with Hibernian too. He has won the Scottish Premiership title on nine occasions, winning the Scottish Cup crown five times as well.

At the age of 34, Brown is still going strong. This season, the midfielder has played 31 times in all competitions for the Hoops. He has scored four times, racking up one assist in all competitions.

His most recent goal for the club could prove to be one of the most important ones of the season. He won the club their game against Hamilton last week, by striking deep into stoppage time. The goal helped Celtic establish a two-point lead over Rangers in the Premiership table.

Brown had joined the Bhoys from Hibs in the summer of 2007 for a fee of £4.4 million, evading interest from the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Everton.

What do we think?

Brown still has a lot in his tank currently. He is a regular in Neil Lennon’s team, playing consistently alongside Callum McGregor as the deepest midfielder. His goal against Hamilton could well have been a watershed moment in the season and will be crucial in possibly handing them in the title.
