Aston Villa fans have been pleading on Twitter for Dean Smith to drop Wesley for their upcoming game against Sheffield United.

This comes after Villa news Twitter account @AVFC_News shared a post on their official page asking their followers what piece of advice they would give to Smith ahead of the weekend.

This post then gathered many replies from Villa fans with the majority suggesting Smith should take current striker Wesley out of the team for the clash with the Blades.

Should Wesley start against Sheffield United on Saturday?

Here’s a sample of Villa fans asking Smith to drop Wesley from the team:

The Brazilian striker, who is valued at £27 million (as per Transfermarkt) is on a poor run of form in his debut season for the Birmingham club. In 16 Premier League appearances, Wesley has only managed to score four goals and pick up one assist (per Transfermarkt).

Some Villa fans have had the last straw with the 23-year-old and have begun to let their feelings known to Smith that it’s time to drop him from the team.

What do we think?

It seems some Villa fans have seen enough of Wesley to know he is not the right man to become Villa’s prolific goalscorer to keep them from relegation. In their first season back in the Premier League after a period in the Championship, Villa are currently in 17th place in the Premier League table, just above the relegation zone. If Smith wants to avoid relegation, maybe a switch in the centre-forward position could prove to be beneficial for the team.
