Aston Villa fans have been fuming on Twitter over the performance of Henri Lansbury against Sheffield United at the weekend.
This comes after Villa news Twitter account @AVFC_News shared a post on their official page asking their followers if they were disappointed with the midfielder’s performance in the 2-0 defeat against Chris Wilder’s side.
The post also contained an article from the Birmingham Mail on Lansbury’s display.
Interestingly, the midfielder signed for around £2.75 million back in January 2017 when Steve Bruce was in charge.
Who should start in Villa's next Premier League match?
Henri Lansbury

Douglas Luiz

Here’s a sample of Villa fans slating Lansbury for his poor performance:
Didn’t even notice he was on the pitch, speaks volumes

Shame really wasted potential was a brilliant player when we bought him

Time for him to leave, not prem quality at all

The 29-year-old central midfielder made his first Premier League start for Dean Smith’s struggling side but failed to make an impact on the game. Lansbury, who is currently valued at £1.35 million, according to Transfermarkt, took the place of Douglas Luiz in the starting XI for the visit to Bramall Lane, but his time on the pitch did not please many Villa fans.
Question I have is what does he actually offer in the premier league? I don’t even know where his best midfield position is! Defensive, free roam, attacking etc…

Looked tentative in his decisions again. Reluctant to get forward.

Like Hogan, a terrible signing for the wages. He’s continuously blown his opportunities & needs a move frankly.

What do we think?
While it was good to see the Englishman finally get his start for Villa in the Premier after making a number of appearances from the substitutes bench, Lansbury needed to do more with his opportunity. With this poor display against Sheffield, he may not get another chance to start for Villa again for a while.
