Aston Villa fans have been questioning Dean Smith on Twitter after Villa’s weekend defeat to Southampton.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @VillaTil1Die shared a post on their page asking their followers if they think Smith is “struggling to adapt” to the Premier League after losing 3-1 to relegation rivals Southampton.
This post then gathered many replies from Villa fans who were all eager to share their views on their club’s manager.
Is Dean Smith the right manager for Villa?
Yes
No
Here’s a sample of Villa fans discussing Smith:
It’s funny how all his signings looked amazing the first few games, now they are getting worse every game they play. That’s bad coaching or am I wrong ?

Yes. Bruce esque. We have no decent strikers. A care free midfield. All will be picked again as a 443. He’s being found wanting at the moment.

Smith is a good person and help us get to the premier league however this is proving a step too far every game the tactics have been poor and subs not good enough… from the beginning of the season we are a striker short and quality wingers short for the style he wants to play.

Villa dropped into the relegation zone for the first time this season after suffering their 11th defeat so far. Without a Premier League win since November, some Villa fans are now looking at whether or not Smith is the right man to continue at Villa.
I think to go with a fairly high line and play the exact same way against two mobile pacey strikers is worrying-he tends to have runs of good and bad results throughout his career so would hope this will turn but we need addictions now as opposed to it being nice

We are getting worse every game & heading back to the Championship unless things change quickly. The defence (not just the back 4) are all over the place, too slow & static in midfield & toothless up front. No leadership on the pitch & Smith is struggling to find a Plan B.

I can’t see the owners giving deans too much longer not with the investment they have made, we look completely lost in all areas of the pitch it’s hard to know where to start ..

What do we think?
Villa are undoubtedly in a bad run of form recently. But with the January transfer window around the corner, it will be interesting to see if Smith brings in any reinforcements to the squad in an effort to rejuvenate Villa’s season. Although, it may be difficult as the Villans are reportedly under threat from the potential risk of Financial Fair Play.
