Fans of Wolverhampton Wanderers have aired their disappointment in Max Kilman following his Premier League debut.
The 22-year-old Englishman was awarded his first minutes of league action for the Old Gold on Sunday, in the 1-1 draw with Sheffield United, due to Romain Saiss’ suspension (per Tim Spiers).
However, despite his first league minutes under Nuno Espirito Santo being hotly anticipated (per Wolves Live), the youngster failed to live up to expectations in the eyes of the Molineux faithful.
Following a post from Tim Spiers in which the journalist aired his belief that the Englishman was one of Wolves’ best players (per Tim Spiers), many fans begged to differ.
Max Kilman’s last league start came for Maidenhead United against Bromley in the National League.
An argument to say he was Wolves’ best player today. What a fantastic story.

His positioning was terrible throughout and went backwards to much which is probably the understandable part because of nerves. A steady performance but not great!

Patricio kept us in it however raul was sublime.
Kilman and donk did not help coady at all in the first half.

He wasn’t that good Tim. Not sure what game you were watching. Distinctly average and a couple of times very poor positionally. Especially in first half

Was Max Kilman good enough to warrant more first-team action?Yes, he was solid enoughNo, we need better |
Prior to the clash with the Blades, the 22-year-old had featured in seven outings in cup competitions this term for the Old Gold (as per Transfermarkt).
Over those games he was solid if uninspiring, however, picked up a sturdy 7/10 rating for the game against United (as per Express and Star).
Despite his healthy rating, many of the Old Gold’s fans were having none of it, believing that the youngster is capable of much better.
Come on Tim. He had a poor game today, not going to knock him.. he did improve second half… thought we looked as bad at the back today as we have all season.

Not a chance. Adama or Rui by a distance

What? Baffled here Tim. Patricio kept us in the game today.
Kilman looked out of place he was just about keeping his head above water. Out of position and played the same ball to Coady.
Cannot wait for the return of Boly.

Not for me. Not blaming him, but the defence was all over the shop today. Traore was MotM, with honourable mentions for Jimenez, Doc, Jonny, Mout and Neves.

It would be an argument where you were wrong. Don’t understand why he put the ball out so close to our goal from which Sheffield scored.

Best player? Which game did you watch? He was dreadfully out of his depth, and a cause for their goal

What do we think?
Again, Kilman was solid enough if uninspiring, but the 22-year-old is still learning the game at the highest level.
The Englishman was by no means Wolves’ best player against the Yorkshire club, but he did put in a sturdy performance and some of the criticism is unwarranted.
