Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have outlined that they want to see Nuno Espirito Santo make a number of squad changes in Thursday’s Europa League clash with Besiktas.
On Monday afternoon, the Athletic journalist, Tim Spiers, explained his belief that supporters should expect a number of changes in the starting lineup for Thursday’s clash – even if it may cost the Old Gold being seeded for the knockouts (per Tim Spiers).
With the Molineux faithful reflecting on what will be a chocker winter fixture list (per Daily Mail), they agreed that playing a heavily rotated side for the game was the best route to go down.
While being seeded for last 32 is preferable, I’m imagining Nuno’s thinking he could play his strongest XI on Thursday and Braga may still beat Bratislava. And then you look at Spurs’ form ahead of Sunday…
Would expect to see yesterday’s bench plus U23s against Besiktas #wwfc https://t.co/cI75hKPfWI

Exactly my thinking Tim and exactly how I explained it to the guys in front of me on Wednesday. It makes sense to make changes

If there’s going to be changes I like to see upcoming U23″s who would break into the side but with a few 1st teamers solid defence to bed them in @Wolves #WWFC

Works for me – gives the kids the experience so that if called on later it’s not such a step up.

Should Nuno Espirito Santo play a heavily rotated side against Besiktas on Thursday?Yes, we need to rest first-teamersNo, we need to go for top spot |
So far this term, the Old Gold has already featured in 29 competitive fixtures across three separate competitions (per Transfermarkt).
With many touting that Wolves will struggle to meet the demands of the Premier League, Europa League and various other competitions (per The Guardian), fans believed it sensible to give first-teamers a rest, also believing that seeding does not really matter.
Makes sense to rest players and give others a chance.

With the exception of one or two (likes of Sevilla spring to mind) I’m not sure there is much difference being seeded or unseeded anyway. They’ll be some big teams in the unseeded pot. Very much luck of the draw, really.

If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Doesn’t matter who we get drawn against in the knockouts so a first place finish in the group isn’t important. Give the kids a run out

What do we think?
As some supporters stated, seeded or unseeded you can still be drawn against big clubs so it does not matter too much either way. With a chocker winter coming up for Nuno’s side, squad rotation is a sensible option.
