Supporters of Wolverhampton Wanderers were left delighted as Tim Spiers relayed news which put links between Nuno Espirito Santo and Arsenal ‘to bed’.
In recent weeks, reports emerged that Arsenal were interested in targeting Wolves’ Portuguese gaffer after Unai Emery’s sacking (via Metro), however, with the Gunners set to appoint Mikel Arteta the rumours have been ‘put to bed’ (as per David Ornstein).
With Tim Spiers relaying the news to Wolves fans (via Tim Spiers), supporters were delighted to read that there was little chance of their 45-year-old boss going anywhere.
Arsenal never made a massive pitch to try and attract Nuno from Wolves, but that can all be put to bed now. As my colleague @David_Ornstein exclusively reports, Mikel Arteta is on his way to the Emirates today. https://t.co/uS8H1hZbVG

Tbh, the links won’t stop now. This Wolves team is just getting better and better. Challenge for / win a trophy this season or next (not unlikely) and there will be more than Arsenal interested. Give Nuno an extended contract NOW Mr Shi please.

Now come on @Wolves give him and his team a bumper Christmas present of a new contract!

Would Nuno Espirito Santo have left even if Arsenal made a solid offer for him?No, he's committed to the projectYes, they're a massive club sadly |
However, some Wolves fans felt that a move was never on the cards for the Portuguese manager due to the state of the situation at the Emirates Stadium and even predicted Arteta’s sacking already.
I would imagine Arsenal could be seen as a poison chalice, but how many former championship managers would turn them down.
A lot of this must be due to the Fosun ambition and plan that Nuno is aware of.
Or he just couldn’t live without his Bathams and scratchings. #wwfc

What do we think?
With the stagnation that Arsenal currently seem to be enduring, coupled with Wolves’ impressive trajectory, as some fans suggested, it does seem unlikely that Nuno would have left even if a solid offer came his way.
