One man who could be leaving Spurs in the upcoming January window is defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, with Spurs reportedly willing to sell him for just £4 million.

According to Football Insider, Spurs are willing to sell the defender, who is currently on loan at Stoke City, if they receive an offer matching their reported asking price of just £4 million.

Interestingly, it’s stated that former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino used to speak highly of Carter-Vickers

The USA international is a product of the youth academy at Spurs and has featured just four times for the senior side, having spent various seasons on loan with the likes of Ipswich, Swansea and Sheffield United.

The 21-year-old was highly rated in the past but his disappointing performances for a struggling Stoke side so far this season look to have been the final straw for Carter-Vickers at Spurs. He is on a season-long loan with the Potters, but the North London club do have the option to cut his loan short in order to sell him permanently in January, should they receive a suitable offer.

TIF Tactics:

It is no surprise that Mourinho is keen to move on Carter-Vickers, with the youngster never having made the step up to Premier League football. Although £4 million isn’t too much in today’s footballing terms, it is a welcome boost for Mourinho who may have to raise funds if he wants to bring in some new players in the upcoming January transfer window.

The academy graduate may well have been considered for first-team football at Spurs next season had Toby Alderweireld left on a free transfer, but after the Belgian signed a new contract last week, it seems as if Mourinho has more than enough options at centre-back. It will be interesting to see whether the North London club does succeed in selling Carter-Vickers in January and how the 21-year-old progresses if he does move on.
