Spurs fans are concerned about the welfare of Dele Alli after the midfielder was seen leaving the pitch clutching his groin following the 2-1 win over Brighton on Boxing Day.

A video posted by Daily Hotspur on Twitter shows the 23-year-old appearing to hold his groin following 90 minutes against Graham Potter’s side. It would be a huge blow for Jose Mourinho if he were to lose Alli; who has been one of the Portuguese manager’s most influential players since his appointment in November.

Alli scored the winner in the game against Brighton with a delightful finish, in what was his sixth goal of the season and fifth under Mourinho. The former MK Dons man has been very impressive for Spurs over the last two months, with only one performance, the 2-0 defeat against Chelsea, earning Alli a rating less than 7.0 from whoscored.

Should Dele Alli be rested against Norwich as a precaution?

Reaction from Spurs fans to Alli’s possible injury troubles can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans are clearly worried that Alli may now be out for a while if his injury does turn out to be serious.

What do we think?

It is impossible to know for sure if Alli is injured but perhaps Mourinho should rest the 23-year-old for Spurs’ trip to Norwich on Saturday to ensure that he doesn’t aggravate any possible problem. The England international has been superb since Mourinho’s appointment and it would be a huge blow for Spurs if he is injured.
