Spurs fans were less than impressed with the performance of midfielder Eric Dier in the loss against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, with many fans feeling that the Englishman is not good enough.
Dier was captain for the night at the Allianz Arena but put in a very disappointing performance; earning a 5.78 rating from whoscored. The 25-year-old has been restored to the starting line-up under Jose Mourinho after a spell on the sidelines under Pochettino, but he is yet to convince fans that he is good enough to be starting.
It is perhaps no surprise that Mourinho favours the defensive midfielder, who signed for Spurs from Sporting Lisbon in 2013, as he reportedly made several attempts to sign him during his time at Manchester United. However, after he was given the run around by the Bayern midfield, fans feel as if Mourinho needs to sell him in the upcoming January transfer window.

Dier was easily the worst out there. Blowing like a dray horse all evening. Nowhere near close enough in the press. Gave nearly every pass away. Skipp should start over Dier every time from now on. A massive difference when he came on.

Dier too slow in mind and body, Rose just not up to it anymore, KWP domestic cup back up player, Erikson just doesn’t want to be there.

Genuinely time to say goodbye to Eriksen and Dier. Cheers

These Spurs fans were clearly not impressed by Dier’s dreadful display and feel as if his time at the club is nearly up.
What do we think?
There was a time when Dier was regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League but he looks to be some way off match fitness. The £27 million rated man struggled to cope with the constant movement and trickery of Philippe Coutinho and Thiago, as perhaps anyone would, but he may well hold on to his place in the first-team as Mourinho clearly favours having a defensive-minded midfielder.
