Spurs fans were less than impressed with Jose Mourinho’s decision to leave out Troy Parrott in Wednesday night’s 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich.
With Spurs losing 3-1 late on, the Portuguese manager opted to bring on Victor Wanyama in his third and final substitution, meaning that 17-year-old Parrott would not get to make his Champions League debut. There were high hopes amongst Spurs fans that the Republic of Ireland international would get to start at the Allianz Arena after Mourinho confirmed that first-choice striker Harry Kane would sit the game out, but unfortunately for Parrott, he was left on the bench.
Considering the game was a dead-rubber, with both Bayern Munich and Spurs already through to the knockout stages, it is a surprise and perhaps a disappointment that Parrott was not at least given some minutes against the Bundesliga champions. Mourinho will surely have his reasoning behind the decision, but it hasn’t stopped a lot of Spurs fans getting angry about why the 17-year-old wasn’t played.
Was Mourinho right to leave Parrott on the bench?

These Spurs fans were clearly not impressed with Mourinho’s decision and were very frustrated that Parrott didn’t feature at all.
What do we think?
It seems very strange that Mourinho opted to bring on Wanyama, a player who looks past his best and has barely featured this season, rather than a young talent such as Parrott considering the game was already lost at that point. The Portuguese manager certainly hasn’t endeared himself with the fans after the decision and may well have some explaining to do.
