Spurs fans were delighted to hear that Premier League rivals West Ham United are taking an interest in former boss Mauricio Pochettino, with the majority suggesting that the Hammers have little chance of securing his signature.

Pochettino was sacked by Spurs in November following a dreadful start to the season but has maintained his reputation as one of the most promising managers in football, with West Ham the latest team to take an interest in the 47-year-old. According to the Daily Star (via Daily Hotspur), the Hammers are sounding out Pochettino as a replacement for current boss Manuel Pellegrini, who looks set to be sacked following a shocking run of results.

It is seen to be an optimistic move from West Ham, who currently sit just one point clear of the relegation zone and won’t be able to offer Pochettino any European football. It would be a surprise to see the former Spurs boss return to the Premier League with West Ham, especially with the reported clause in his contract which would mean he would have to repay £12.5 million to Daniel Levy should he take another job in England’s top domestic league.

These Spurs fans seem confident that if West Ham do make an approach for Pochettino, he will most likely reject it.

What do we think?

West Ham would certainly be a backwards step for Pochettino, who will no doubt have some larger European clubs interested in securing his services in the near future. It would be a surprise to see him move back to the Premier League so soon, especially to a side in danger of relegation.
