Spurs fans were shocked to hear that Giovani Lo Celso is still expected to join the club permanently from Real Betis.

Real Betis president Angel Haro told Spanish media outlet Estadio Deportivo (via Daily Hotspur) that he expects Spurs to exercise their option to buy Lo Celso in January, despite the Argentinian barely featuring for the North London club in his loan so far.

The 23-year-old midfielder originally joined on a loan deal from Betis over the summer, but a hip injury suffered on international duty prevented him from making an impact in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Lo Celso was finally able to make his Spurs debut in the Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade and he made a scoring start, but with Pochettino sacked not long after, the former PSG man has once again found himself on the bench under Mourinho. Despite this, it is still expected that Spurs will bring him in on a permanent deal in the upcoming January window, although Haro has suggested that the 23-year-old is far from happy at the North London club.

These Spurs fans are clearly not too happy with the news that Lo Celso is expected to sign on a permanent deal.

What do we think?

Lo Celso has barely had a chance to show his quality in a Spurs shirt so far but did struggle in his first start for Mourinho against Bayern Munich earlier this month. If the club does purchase him and allows him time to adapt to the Premier League, then the £45 million rated man could well become the perfect replacement for the outgoing Christian Eriksen, who will more than likely leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
