Spurs fans were delighted to hear this week that the club are looking at Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake and West Ham man Issa Diop ahead of possible moves in January.
According to Sky Sports (via Daily Hotspur), Jose Mourinho’s side are actively looking for a left-sided defender and are considering moves for both Ake and Diop in the upcoming window. It is no surprise that the Portuguese manager is looking to make defensive additions, with Spurs currently boasting one of the worst defensive records in the league, with just two clean sheets to their name all season.
Ake has been excellent for Bournemouth since joining them from Chelsea in 2017 and has established himself as a regular in the Dutch national side at left-back, making 11 appearances, demonstrating his versatility to play across the defence. Diop meanwhile has impressed for West Ham since making the move to the Premier League from Toulouse in 2018 but has struggled so far for the Hammers this season; averaging just a 6.56 rating.
Who would be the better signing for Spurs?
Issa Diop
Nathan Ake

It seems as if these Spurs fans are very keen on Ake but less so on Diop so would perhaps favour a move for the Dutchman in January.
What do we think?
With West Ham having just appointed David Moyes, he is unlikely to let one of the club’s prize assets in Diop leave in January so that perhaps scuppers any chance of Spurs signing the 22-year-old. Ake, however, looks to be a real possibility as Bournemouth are struggling in the league, so it may well be the right time for the £31.5 million rated man to make a move to a top club.
