Spurs fans were excited to hear this week that the club are reportedly tracking Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz, but will face competition from the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea for his signature.

According to Sky Sports (via Daily Hotspur), Spurs have been monitoring the 20-year-old midfielder for several seasons, with the German having established himself in the Leverkusen side from a young age. Despite being just 20, Havertz has already made 124 appearances for the Bundesliga side; scoring 34 times in the process.

The youngster has already made seven appearances for his national side and looks to be one of the most promising youngsters in world football at this moment in time. Havertz has struggled at times so far this season, averaging just a 6.77 rating in all competitions, but may well be deemed ready to make his move to a ‘bigger’ European side in January.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported interest in Havertz can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans are clearly excited about the possibility of Havertz joining the club and would love for Mourinho to negotiate a deal for the 20-year-old in January.

What do we think?

Havertz has been playing top-flight football for Leverkusen since he was 17 and looks ready to make his mark in the Premier League. He looks to be the ideal man to replace the outgoing Christian Eriksen, who is expected to leave at the end of the season, but with the German international currently valued at £81 million, he won’t come cheap.
