Spurs fans were delighted with the latest update on reported target Boubakary Soumare this week, with Luis Campos seemingly confirming Mourinho’s interest in the midfielder.
According to French news outlet Le 10 Sport (via TranSPURS), Campos revealed that Mourinho is a big fan of the Frenchman, saying: “Soumaré? It is true that there are many interested… the interest of José Mourinho? I know he likes him very much.” The 20-year-old has been a regular in the Lille side so far this season; making 22 appearances in all competitions.
Soumare is currently valued at £16.2 million and is touted as a star of the future, having joined Lille from PSG’s academy in 2017 and quickly establishing himself in the first-team squad. The young midfielder was important last season in helping Lille qualify for the Champions League; making 18 appearances, but he has very much made a spot in the first team his own so far this season.

Interestingly, one fan even suggested that the midfielder could be a regen of Mousa Dembele, who made 249 appearances for the North London club.

These Spurs fans are clearly keen on the possible signing of Soumare and want would love to see Mourinho make an approach for the 20-year-old in January.
What do we think?
Soumare really impressed in Lille’s 2-1 defeat against Chelsea earlier this month; earning a 7.7 rating after an assured midfield performance. Spurs are already well-stocked in midfield and perhaps need to focus on defensive signings, but Mourinho may be keen to get the 20-year-old Frenchman in before other big European sides begin to take notice.
