Spurs manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly very keen on bringing former Manchester United and Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini back to the Premier League in January.

According to French outlet Les Sports plus (via Sport Witness), Mourinho has already contacted the 32-year-old midfielder about a possible return to the Premier League and a deal could be done in January.

The report suggests that Mourinho will ‘do anything possible’ to secure his signing from Shandong Luneng; the Chinese club he signed for from Manchester United earlier this year.

The Belgian gained a reputation for his aerial prowess during his time in England and scored 55 goals in all competitions for Manchester United and Everton. He is seen by Mourinho to offer something which he does not currently have at Spurs; an effective target man who will be used predominantly from the bench.

And, he managed to score 12 goals, as well as producing five assists in all competitions for his current club this season.

Would Fellaini be an effective back-up to Harry Kane?

TIF Tactics:

We saw two contrasting displays from Spurs in their last two games against Manchester United and Burnley; with the defeat at Old Trafford a dull affair which was controlled by the home side. You wonder whether Fellaini could have provided an alternative option and style of play which may have proved more effective in that game.

The experienced midfielder could add a serious threat off the bench for Mourinho if he is able to convince the former United man to be reunited with him at Spurs. This could, however, stifle the development of 17-year-old Troy Parrott, who had been considered by Spurs fans to be ready to step up as Harry Kane’s back-up.

Fellaini is valued at just £8.55 million by transfermarkt, so it would not be a surprise to see Mourinho make a move for him in the upcoming transfer window.
