Spurs left-back Danny Rose still looks set to leave once his contract expires after he reiterated his desire to run down his contract with the club.

According to the Daily Mirror, Rose confirmed that he has not held any further transfer talks with Jose Mourinho and still plans to leave on a free transfer when his current deal expires. The 29-year-old left-back, who is a product of the youth academy at Spurs, revealed his contract intentions last month under Mauricio Pochettino and it seems as if his plans haven’t changed with the appointment of Jose Mourinho.

The England international has made 212 appearances in his time with the club, but showed no remorse when telling fans he was ready to leave. It seems as if Rose would be forced to play second fiddle to Welsh left-back Ben Davies following the arrival of Mourinho, but after Davies suffered a long-term injury in the win at West Ham, Rose’s chances of first-team football look to have increased once again.

TIF Tactics:

Despite being a natural centre-back, Mourinho has trusted Jan Vertonghen to play ahead of Rose at left-back in recent games, which suggests that the Englishman is surplus to requirements at the North London club. Currently valued at £18 million, the Portuguese boss will no doubt be disappointed that he cannot recuperate some funds by selling Rose and instead looks stuck with the 29-year-old until the end of next season.

It would not be a surprise to see Mourinho bring in a natural left-back in the January transfer window, with Rose’s form having drastically deteriorated in recent months, with the academy graduate clearly no longer interested in playing for the club.
