Christian Eriksen has always looked set to leave Spurs at some point this season, with his contract set to run out in the summer, but it now seems as if the Danish international is willing to leave in January.

Eriksen first stated his desire to leave the club following the Champions League final defeat in May but the club failed to sell the 27-year-old over the summer and now look set to lose him for nothing. However, a report from the Telegraph suggests that the midfielder would be willing to leave during the season should a team approach him in the upcoming January transfer window.

Eriksen originally signed for Spurs from Ajax in 2013 and quickly established himself as arguably one of the best attacking-midfielders in the Premier League; with 68 goals in the 293 appearances for the North London club.

However, former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino struggled to get the best out of Eriksen, and judging by the report, the Danish international isn’t too fussed about playing under Jose Mourinho.

TIF Tactics:

The 27-year-old, who has been targeted by the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus in the past, really underperformed at the start of the season and has started on the substitutes’ bench in Mourinho’s first three games in charge of Spurs. However, he showed his class by changing the game for Spurs in their 4-2 win over Olympiakos last week, so will no doubt still be an attractive proposition for several European clubs.

Although Eriksen has said he is willing to leave, it would be a surprise to see Spurs receive anything close to the 27-year-old’s current £90 million valuation in January, especially as clubs could sign him on a free in the summer.

Mourinho will no doubt be keen to move Eriksen on to raise some transfer funds but a January move away seems unlikely at this point.
