Some Southampton fans can’t stop raving about a goal that their Under-18s side scored in a recent FA Youth Cup clash against the Bristol Rovers Under-18s outfit.

The Saints Under-18s side marched into the next round of the FA Youth Cup with what was a convincing 3-1 win away from home.

Elsewhere, the Bournemouth Under-18s beat the Barnet Under-18s 4-3 in normal time. Whereas Middlesbrough beat Forest Green after a 1-1 draw in normal time, with the side from the north of the country winning 5-4 on penalties (per Google).

One of the goals that the Under-18s scored sent the Saints fans crazy. They are still hailing it on social media.

The Liverpool Under-18s side are the current Champions of the FA Youth Cup, as they beat the Manchester City side in the final last season. Southampton Under-18s though, couldn’t get beyond the Fourth Round of the competition last season when they lost 2-1 to the Watford Under-18s outfit.

The scorer of the third goal against Bristol was Sam Bellis. The midfielder is currently 16 years old and joined the club from Manchester City this past summer. This season, he has made six appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring thrice in the Premier League Under-18s side.

He was on loan at Stoke City last season, where he played a single game for the Under-18s. He scored once as well. For the Man City Under-18s side, he made two appearances. He has been key to the Saints’ season in the league, helping them to fifth in the table.

What do we think?

Bellis’ goal was a class apart. The fans’ reaction was very much justified. More than that, they should know they have a player on their hands in Bellis. If he keeps his goalscoring run going this season, he could be closer to playing in the Premier League 2 side soon.
