Some Southampton fans have expressed their disappointment at the fact that Che Adams didn’t get to start for the club in their recent 2-1 win over Norwich in the Premier League (BBC).

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men headed into the game against the Canaries with the hope of moving out of the top three. And the 2-1 win allowed them to do just that. Goals from Ryan Bertrand and striker Danny Ings came in the first half, but Teemu Pukki stole a consolation in the second half.

Despite the win, some Saints fans weren’t happy that summer signing Adams didn’t get to start a game once again. They expressed their strong disappointment on Twitter.

23-year-old Adams, who is valued at £10.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), last played for Southampton early last month in the club’s league clash against Everton in a 2-1 loss. He had also played two minutes of the club’s clash against Man City before the Toffees’ loss.

In all competitions this season, Adams has played 12 times in all competitions. He has one assist to his name. His last start for the club came in the club’s 4-0 win over Portsmouth in the League Cup back in September.

He arrived at the South Coast of the country from Championship side Birmingham City this past summer for a fee of £15million and signed a five-year deal back in July.

At the Blues last season, Adams had impressed. He had featured 48 times in all competitions for them. He racked up a tally of a total of 22 goals and he bagged five assists on the way too.

What do we think?

This is Adams’ first season in the Premier League. And it is unfair to expect every player to shine right away as soon as he makes the jump from the Championship. Adams’ numbers from last season show that there is a player in there.

But the competition at Southampton makes it tough for a player like him. The key for Adams is to take his time and make his opportunities count.
