A lot of Newcastle United fans are not surprised to hear that Newcastle are looking closely at free transfers for next summer.
Steve Bruce in his time as Aston Villa, Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City signed 14 players for no fee.
This will please the Newcastle board, who like to find a bargain.
Bruce confirmed in his press conference that the Toon have “Two or three things in place”.

What do we think?
Newcastle have in the past managed to pick up some bargains deals.
The likes of Demba Ba, and Yohan Cabaye were sealed on the cheap, and both became two of the Magpies’ better players from the past decade.
It is also good to hear that they have a few deals lined up, though, they could depend on which league the Toon are playing in.
However, many Newcastle supporters want to see their club spend money and not be scrapping around for deals.
The Toon spent quite heavily in the summer, though, so a January splurge may be unlikely.
It remains to be seen how much Newcastle have to spend in both January and next summer, but Bruce seems to feel confident that he has at least a few players lined up to join him at the end of the season.
