According to Spanish outlet AS, Manchester City have made an approach to sign Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita. It’s understood that Pep Guardiola’s side believe he is ‘one of the candidates’ to fight for the number one spot with Ederson if Claudio Bravo is to leave the club.
Guaita’s contract expires in 2021 and the South London club are expected to open negotiations regarding an extension with the 32-year-old in the very near future.
But it appears these City fans aren’t overly enthusiastic about a potential move for the Spaniard – mainly because Zack Steffen is due to return from his loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf at the end of the season.

Guaita’s performances will have caught the eye of a number of Premier League club’s and the original report claims that West Ham are also monitoring his situation closely.
Steffen is due to return from his loan-spell in the Bundesliga at the end of the season but it remains to be seen whether he has what it takes to challenge Ederson for the number one spot.
The fans appear to believe in the 24-year-old American, who is valued at £9m by TransferMarkt, but he’s only managed two clean sheets and conceded 36 goals in 17 Bundesliga fixtures so far this season.
Therefore if a top quality goalkeeper is available City would be foolish not to take advantage.
