Leicester City defender Wes Morgan came close to scoring a sensational goal during the club’s narrow victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium. The 35-year-old was named in the starting eleven alongside Jonny Evans at centre-back and did brilliantly to work a goalscoring opportunity for himself only to see his effort saved by Lukasz Fabianski.

The Foxes fans were desperate to see Morgan’s skill from which he fashioned the space result in what would have been a memorable goal for the veteran centre-back and as a result, some are calling for him to be utilised as a forward the next time they’re in desperate need of a goal after witnessing the footage posted on the club’s Twitter handle.

Will this be Morgan's last season at the King Power?

Whilst others took issue with the fact the incident wasn’t shown on BBC’s Match of the Day.

He may not be a regular starter these days but Morgan is clearly still a fan favourite at the King Power Stadium, especially following his title-winning heroics a couple of years ago.

What do we think?

Wes Morgan has made just five Premier League appearances so far this term but his presence in and around the dressing room no doubt has a positive influence on this young group of players. The 35-year-old famously captained the Foxes to the league title in the 2015/16 season, therefore, scribing his name into Leicester City folklore.

His opportunities nowadays are few and far between but that’s down to the incredible form of Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu. The pair have formed a formidable partnership and continue to go from strength to strength leaving Morgan out in the cold.

The former Nottingham Forest defender is a model professional and despite having played very little football this season still turned in a 6.9/10 performance versus West Ham according to WhoScored.com.
