Manchester City stormed to a commanding victory over Arsenal at the Emirates stadium on Sunday with three first-half goals without response from the hosts.

Pep Guardiola’s side took the lead within two minutes after Kevin De Bruyne emphatically finished Gabriel Jesus’ cross. The Belgian then created a goal for his team-mate, Raheem Sterling, before finding the net again himself five minutes before the break with a sublime finish this time with his left foot.

Whilst most of the post-match discussion was around the quality of De Bruyne’s goal, Sterling took to social media to jokingly suggest his goal was of a higher quality and the club’s supporters loved it.

What do we think?

It’s safe to say that Sterling’s ‘tap in’ won’t live long in the memories of the City fans but the players sense of humour evidences the camaraderie within Guardiola’s squad at a time where they have faced lots of criticism – largely down to the fact they find themselves 14 points behind the leaders, Liverpool.

The England international didn’t have his greatest game in City colours but fortunately for the club, Kevin De Bruyne was at his brilliant best and proved too much for Arsenal’s dysfunctional defence.

However, whilst Sterling’s humorous antics might be something the fans are loving at the moment, there might be a case for some to call for him to find the back of the net a little more regularly than he has in recent spells – especially with the game against Leicester City next weekend.
