Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte continues his recovery in a bid to return to action as soon as possible. The Frenchman’s injury has rocked Pep Guardiola’s side and has forced the Spaniard to remove Fernandinho from his natural position in the middle of the park in an attempt to cover the 25-year-old’s injury as best as possible (Sky Sports).

Laporte suffered the injury at the end of August during a win over Brighton and was forced to undergo surgery. He took to social media to praise his team-mates having qualified for the knockout stages of this seasons Champions League and his post was met with well-wishes and a clear desire from the supporters to see him return as soon as physically possible.

What do we think?

Aymeric Laporte’s absence, arguably, has played a huge part in City losing sight of the Premier League leaders Liverpool. By far their standout central-defender last season, the Frenchman’s injury came as a huge blow amplified by the fact Vincent Kompany was not replaced.

The £67.5m-rated ace’s (TransferMarkt.co.uk) return date is not set in stone but if he can get himself fit by February, it would give City’s hopes of going all the way in the Champions League a huge boost.
