According to El Desmarque, Pep Guardiola has told Manchester City chiefs to prepare a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Isco.  The Spaniard played 90 minutes during the clubs victory over Alaves at the weekend and is said to be working his way back to his best after a difficult period with Los Blancos.

The report claims that City are yet to open negotiations with the club but that Guardiola is a huge admirer of the £54m-rated man (per TransferMarkt) and will instruct his bosses to test the waters in order to understand whether or not the Spanish giants would be willing to allow the player to leave.

TIF Tactics – Isco, what’s the story?

The 27-year-old is as decorated as they come having lifted the Champions League trophy four times, won a La Liga title and been crowned a FIFA Club World Cup winner four times. His silky style would fit perfectly into Guardiola’s philosophy and his wonderful right foot is a joy to behold but it’s his footballing brain that has stood him out from the crowd since he burst on to the scene with Malaga.

Isco earned the transfer every Spanish kid may dream of growing up back in 2013 when he signed for the Bernabeu club. However, his form during the 2018/19 campaign left a lot to be desired but Real Madrid as a collective had a relatively poor season and ended up finishing a huge 19 points behind the Champions Barcelona.

Zinedine Zidane’s man-management has come in to question in recent times and that’s largely down to his treatment of Gareth Bale but he may just put his foot down in regards to this potential transfer given he’s likely to lose James Rodriguez in the upcoming transfer window.
