Leicester City midfielder Nampalys Mendy is attracting the interest of Turkish giants Fenerbahce. The 27-year-old has been out of favour at the King Power stadium making just one appearance in the Premier League so far this season as a substitute.

Le 10 Sport say Fenerbahce are confident of a deal involving the former Nice player, given his contract with the Foxes is set to expire at the end of this season.

Although the report claims the Istanbul based club are very much interested, it doesn’t specify whether or not Mendy himself would be interested in a move to Turkey.

TIF Tactics – Mendy’s Leicester days seem numbered

Currently valued at £6.3m (via TransferMarkt.co.uk), Mendy has made 43 appearances for the East-Midlands club since his arrival in 2016. That’s partly due to the fact he returned to France on loan for a season but with such a talented squad flying under Brendan Rodgers, it seems his future lies elsewhere.

Primarily a defensive midfielder, Mendy was signed with high hopes for just shy of £14m by Claudio Ranieri but unfortunately, for both the player and the club, it hasn’t quite worked out.

It’s difficult to imagine the Foxes fighting tooth and nail to keep hold of Mendy in January and beyond, therefore, if a sensible offer was to come in, we could see the Frenchman move on sooner rather than later.

It’s not as if he would be a big loss with the likes of James Maddison, Dennis Praet and Wilfried Ndidi patrolling the middle of midfield under Brendan Rodgers at the moment.
