Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Leicester City midfielder Matty James is training with the squad every day and making progress in his recovery from a long-term injury.

The hope is that the 28-year-old has put his Achilles tendon troubles behind him and Rodgers had this to say when asked about the players progress.

Does Matty James have a future at the King Power?

Yes

No

“He’s in training with the squad every day, so he’s making excellent progress,” he said. “He’s not quite at the stage yet where we can think about games. Great servant for the club who’s just been unfortunate with injuries.”

TIF Tactics – Could Matty James be off in January?

It was revealed last month that James had been doing some coaching whilst recovering from his injury and that a loan move could be on the cards in January but as with everything that would of course be dependant on his fitness.

James has made 116 appearances for the Foxes, scored five goals and provided 13 assists. It’s always gut-wrenching when a footballers game time and progress is obstructed by a series of unfortunate injuries and although his future may not lie with Brendan Rodgers’ side we hope he returns to playing matches as soon as possible.

The right-footed midfield player was a member of the title winning squad in 2015/16 and for that he will always hold a place in the hearts of the Foxes faithful.
