Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet is being linked with a return to Serie A just months after arriving at the King Power Stadium. According to a report in Corriere dello Sport (reported via Sport Witness) Fiorentina’s Director of Football Daniele Prade, who signed the Belgian for Sampdoria is keen on a reunion with the midfielder and a bid is being prepared.

Brendan Rodgers’ side paid £18.9m (via Transfermarkt.co.uk) in order to bring the 25-year-old to the East Midlands but he’s not played as much football as he, perhaps, would have liked. Praet has made 14 appearances in all competitions so far this season with just six of those being starts.

TIF Tactics – Leicester City have no need to sell

The Foxes are entering into a difficult December jam-packed with fixtures and if they are to maintain their impressive league position Rodgers will need to call upon the strength-in-depth his squad possesses. Financially, Leicester City have no need to sell anybody let alone Praet who they brought to the club as recently as the summer.

If Fiorentina want the Belgian, they will need to pay above and beyond what the Foxes paid for him, therefore, a transfer back to Italy this January seems unlikely.

Praet made over 100 appearances for Sampdoria in the Italian top flight and so you can understand why his experience along with his current lack of game time has put him on Vincenzo Montella and Prade’s radars.

However, with the hectic festive period starting to kick into gear and go into overdrive, it would not be a surprise to see the now-valued £21.6m-rated midfielder become an even more crucial player for the Foxes over the coming weeks as they look to remain on Liverpool’s tail.
