Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet has dismissed rumours he could be on his way back to Italy in January insisting he is happy in England and working his way towards becoming a regular starter under Brendan Rodgers.

It was reported (Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness) earlier this week that Fiorentina’s Director of Football Daniele Prade was keen on bringing the 25-year-old back to Serie A.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) the player was asked about a return to Italy and he said: “It’s false. I’ve read, for example, about Fiorentina, but I’m happy. I’m not a regular starter yet, but I’m aiming to be soon. Then again, in the future, maybe, it would be nice to return, maybe even to Sampdoria.”

TIF Tactics – Praet has struggled to make his mark so far

The Belgian international has yet to nail down a permanent place in Brendan Rodgers’ starting eleven and his lack of game time is likely fuelling the rumours of him leaving the club.

Signed from Sampdoria for £18.9m according to TransferMarkt.co.uk, it would have been thought Praet would be a key player for the Foxes but their form of late has been so impressive that Rodgers may be reluctant to make any significant changes to his starting line up unless they are forced upon him.

As far as his Leicester City career goes, it’s still early days and given the success the club are enjoying of late, he will need to bide his time a little longer but if the situation doesn’t change don’t be surprised if some of Serie A’s clubs come calling.
