Leicester City are being linked with a move for Danish starlet Wahid Faghir. The 16-year-old is being watched by a number of top European clubs including the Foxes according to a report in Danish newspaper BT.

Others said to be interested include Dutch giants Ajax, a number of unnamed Premier League clubs and multiple La Liga outfits.

The attacker currently plays for Vejle Boldklub’s under-19’s and has scored five goals in nine games this season. The report describes Faghir as a ‘physically strong, highly technical and gifted attacker’ – and has even been compared with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

He is believed to have a contract that will run until the summer of 2022 and if Leicester were to make a move and bring the player to the King Power Stadium, he would go straight into the club’s academy.

Despite being so young, there is a feeling Faghir could go on to be one of Europe’s best players and it’s that kind of forward planning that can lead to prolonged success.

The project under Brendan Rodgers at Leicester is an exciting one and the club’s on-the-field success displays the Foxes in a positive light – making them competitive when going head to head with others for the signings of the likes of the Danish forward.

With anybody so young, there will always be an element of risk but equally the reward can be well worth it.
