Leicester City have announced Brendan Rodgers has signed a new contract with the club which will keep him at the King Power Stadium until 2025. The news was announced on Friday morning and comes as a huge boost to those supporters who may have feared the former Liverpool boss could be tempted into filling the vacant manager’s job at Arsenal.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Rodgers’ said: “When I made the decision to come to Leicester City, it was because I was excited about the direction the Club was taking and how I could apply my experience to the journey. I came here with a purpose to add something to that and to help the Club build for the future.

“The support I have had from the Chairman, Khun Top; from the Chief Executive, Susan Whelan; from the Director of Football, Jon Rudkin; and from everyone at the Club has been amazing. I’ve inherited an outstanding team of staff that are dedicated to progress and improvement and we have a group of players that are a joy to work with every day.

“And to the Club’s supporters, I can only say thank you for welcoming me and my staff into your Club and for putting your faith in our work. We’ll continue to work together to bring success to Leicester City for many years to come.”

TIF Tactics – A statement of intent

It’s believed Leicester City have given the 46-year-old a significant pay-rise and included further protection for themselves should a rival look to poach Rodgers although we’re unsure of any specific details pertaining to his new contract.

Since his arrival in the East-Midlands, the club’s performances have improved significantly with the club sitting in second place in the Premier League. Leicester City are widely tipped to qualify for the Champions League for only the second time in their history and, understandably, the supporters are excited by what appears to be on the horizon.
