Everton: Supporters in stitches as West Ham appoint David Moyes as manager

Fans of Everton were left in stitches after West Ham United appointed David Moyes as their new manager to replace Manuel Pelligrini.

The Toffees’ former manager had been linked with a return to Goodison Park before Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival (via BBC), however, fans were delighted that he did not re-sign for the Merseyside club and found amusement in their London counterpart’s appointment.

Will David Moyes be successful during a long-term stint with West Ham?

Yes, he could do well

No, not a good manager

No, not a good manager

The Scotsman spent 11 years with the Toffees between 2002 and 2013 before he left Merseyside to take the hot seat with Manchester United following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement (as per BBC).

Over 516 games with the Toffees, the 56-year-old managed the club to a sturdy, if uninspiring, 1.53 points per game average (as per Transfermarkt), leaving fans keen for the Scot to not make a comeback.

What do we think?

It seems that this appointment certainly has a lot of people pleased that you would not expect to be. Although it does go a long way to show the ambitions of two clubs that are of similar stature.

One who went all out to appoint Carlo Ancelotti and another that has looked to steady the ship with David Moyes – it will be interesting to see how the approach works for both sides.
