Some supporters of Everton are gutted with the appointment of Duncan Ferguson for the Chelsea clash, following Marco Silva’s sacking.
It was revealed shortly after the news broke that Everton’s Portuguese gaffer had been sacked that the Scottish 47-year-old would be at the helm for the visit of the Blues (via Paul Joyce).
With many supporters doubting the qualifications of the former centre-forward, they were not happy to see that he would be in place for the crunch clash with Frank Lampard’s outfit.

Was Duncan Ferguson the right appointment for the visit of Chelsea on Saturday?Yes, there was no one elseNo, we could have found better |
Ferguson spent a total of ten years representing the blue half of Merseyside between 1995 and 2006, with a two-year spell with Newcastle United dividing two stays (per Transfermarkt).
In total, the forward played 253 games for the Toffees, bagging 65 goals and one assist in the process (per Transfermarkt), before completing his coaching badges upon retirement and returning to the club in 2014 (per BBC).
However, despite his long-term affiliation with the Merseyside club, many felt that he was not the right man to be taking the team on a short-term basis.

What do we think?
While it was on the cards for a long time, the sacking of Marco Silva appears to be a completely unorganised one (per Liverpool Echo), meaning that there were few better to take the reigns than Ferguson at short notice.
What the Toffees need now is unity and while the Scotsman may not be the fans’ first choice to sit in the hot seat for the visit of Chelsea, they must get behind their team.
