Everton supporters are over the moon that Vitor Pereira has ruled himself out of the race to be named the Toffees’ next manager.
On Tuesday afternoon, it was announced that the 51-year-old had decided to stay in China with Shanghai SIPG following talks with the Everton hierarchy and was believed to be the frontrunner for the position (as per Sky Sports).
While he did not rule out managing in the Premier League in the future, Everton fans were delighted to hear that the Portuguese gaffer would not be the man to replace Marco Silva.

Would Vitor Pereira have been a successful manager at Goodison Park?Yes, he could've done well hereNo, he's not the manager we need |
The decision came to swerve a managerial appointment in Merseyside after the 51-year-old was offered a £25-million-a-year deal to stay in China with Shanghai SIPG (per Sky Sports).
The Portuguese gaffer has been at the helm of his current Chinese club for 88 matches, during which he has an impressive 2.1 points per game total (via Transfermarkt).
Over his managerial career, Pereira also has eight pieces of silverware under his belt from stints in China, Portugal with Porto and Greece with Olympiacos (per Transfermarkt).
Despite the impressive job the former 1860 Munich manager is doing in Asia, and his silverware-laden track record, Everton fans were delighted that he would not be the man to lead the Merseyside club forward.

What do we think?
While Pereira has a good track record with his current club and has been successful elsewhere, he was not a choice which inspired the Goodison Park faithful – which is one of the most important things for a gaffer in the blue half of Merseyside.
