According to a report in Foot Mercato, the Toffees have enquired about Emmanuel Dennis.

The 22-year-old Nigerian striker is valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt and has scored eight goals this season.

Would Dennis be a good signing for Everton?

Dennis has five league goals in 16 appearances but has also managed to score three in the Champions League, and Everton are supposedly interested in him.

Why do they want him?

The Toffees have struggled for goals this season having only scored 20 and their top scorer is Richarlison with eight

Upfront, they have been particularly short of goals, apart from Dominic Calvert-Lewin who has seven goals.

Dennis is not exactly prolific, but his three goals in the Champions League show that he can score at the highest level.

Everton confirmed the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti on Saturday as the replacement for Marco Silva, and the Italian will no doubt want to improve his team in the January transfer window.

How likely is it?

Everton will now be linked with many players due to the arrival of Ancelotti, and Dennis is likely to be just one of a few targets that the Toffees have in mind.

It remains to be seen as to whether the Toffees’ interest in the attacker is genuine, but one thing that will be accurate is the fact that the Merseyside club are in need of a consistent goalscorer.

The Nigerian international is young and raw, but Kean is also young and raw, so Everton may decide that they want a more established striker.

However, this move for Dennis is one that fans should keep an eye on as the transfer window progresses.
