Does the club's statement definitively rule out Carlo Ancelotti?Yes, he's not joining usNo, there's still a chance |
The club statement was released by the Toffees amidst reports that Carlo Ancelotti had been offered a contract and was set to take over at Goodison Park (as per Sky Sports).
Interestingly, it has since been reported that Carlo Ancelotti is expected to be appointed this week (as per Sky Sports) but nothing has been announced by the club up until this point.
However, with the coincidental timing of the statement shortly following the news of Ancelotti’s impending arrival some supporters felt that there was something more afoot.

What do we think?
As some fans suggested, this may just be smoke and mirrors from the club, with a number of outlets reporting that a deal for Ancelotti is close (as per BBC).
Furthermore, the statement only claims that no contract has been offered and no one has dropped out that they were interested in, so a move for the Italian 60-year-old could still be very much on the table.
