Everton supporters have aired their disappointment in Mason Holgate following the Toffees’ latest defeat against Leicester City.
The 23-year-old defender completed the full 90 minutes for the fifth league game in a row in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat (as per Transfermarkt).
Despite many fans being pleased over his performances in recent weeks, the loss to the Foxes saw a change in attitude towards the Englishman.
Sigurdsson and Holgate have been absolutely miserable today. So many brutal passes, Sigurdsson butchering chances in front of goal. This is pathetic from @Everton. #EFC

Is Mason Holgate good enough for Everton?Yes, he has talentNo, ship him out |
While the defender, who is valued at £6.3 million (Transfermarkt), has bagged a goal and two assists for the Toffees in ten league and cup appearances so far this term, he has only mustered an average rating of 6.53/10 (as per Whoscored).
In the latest defeat for Marco Silva’s side, the Englishman performed even worse than his average and picked up a weak 5/10 (as per Liverpool Echo).
With his latest performance acting as one of the weaker in recent months, many aired their frustration over the 23-year-old.

@Everton Silva is not the answer. Neither is Eddie Howe. We need an experienced and well tactically versed manager. Someone who can push on. We need Brands to clear out Coleman, Keane, Mina, Baines, Holgate, Schneiderlin, Tosun and the rest who are championship level and build a

@grandoldteam A few years ago we were building a team around the spine of Stones, Barkley and Lukaku. Today we had Holgate, Davies and DCL – 3 players not good enough to play for @Everton #EFC

What do we think?
It seems strange, prior to Sunday’s defeat almost every Everton fan was delighted with the progress that Holgate was making.
However, following a poor performance from the Englishman and everyone wants him gone.
It is likely that the frustration towards the 23-year-old is born out of a deeper frustration from supporters surrounding the club’s situation at the moment.
