Supporters of Everton have fumed with the club’s Dutch director of football, Marcel Brands, following Marco Silva’s sacking.
On Thursday evening, the club announced that the 42-year-old manager had been relieved of his duties at Goodison Park and that Duncan Ferguson was set to take charge of the clash with Chelsea on Saturday (as per BBC).
While supporters had wanted to see Silva go (via Liverpool Echo), following the sacking they distributed some of the blame for the club’s current predicament onto Brands (via El Pivote).
Its Time for Farhad Moshiri to let Marcel Brands lead the club forward. As a club we are obviously grateful for the Financial Assistance he has provided and also the Stadium project. However from a Football perspective his reign has been poor let the Dof lead the Club!

The DOF has just presided over one of the worst Summer transfer windows I’ve ever seen?

The same Marcel Brands that failed us all including Marco Silva in the last transfer window???

Brands is as guilty as Silva of incompetence.

Untouchable this Brands and he has done as poor a job as the rest of them

Has Marcel Brands done a good or bad job in his 18 months at Goodison Park?Good, just been unluckyBad, as much at fault as Silva |
The Dutchman has been in place as the club’s director of football since May 2018, when he was appointed by Farhad Moshiri and played a role in selecting Silva to replace Sam Allardyce (via BBC).
Having overseen nothing but what fans have perceived as turmoil since his arrival, many felt that Brands was getting away without being given the criticism he deserves for his role at the club.
Marcel Brands has proven to be quite the incompetent so far. His one key role is recruitment, and he has made a pig’s ear of it so far. His summer was disastrous

I get your point, however I’d just like to temper it by reminding you that Brands also failed to bring in a CB, RW and most importantly a Striker that was ready to go straight in this summer’s window…. food for thought

‘From a football perspective his reign has been poor’.
So how are we supposed to trust a DoF that a man with a poor track record in football appointed? Especially when you consider every other footballing appointment he has made has failed spectacularly.

What do we think?
It is doubtless, it has been an incredibly turbulent 18 months since the arrival of the Dutchman at Goodison Park, and while blame can be lay at Silva’s door, he has not been the only problem at the club.
