Most Sunderland players are under the cosh in the eyes of fans. With defeat after defeat, supporters are quickly losing patience. Regardless of the actions made by the club’s owners or the team manager, the players are ultimately the ones losing matches each week.
One player in particular that has been highlighted as a major disappointment by fans is Aiden McGeady. The Irishman is meant to be one of the most technically gifted players in the squad, but supporters are quickly losing faith. They see him as a luxury player that they can’t afford. Others think he is being utilised incorrectly by the manager.
McGeady is a talented player but for whatever reason he has failed to produce that the talent this season. At the moment he is a luxury we can’t afford. When was the last time he produced a bit of magic that made a difference ?

Should be out wide but cuts inside & too many bodies in the middle gets in way, should either be no 10 role & compete with McGuire or as false no 9 in a front three with pace & movement on each side

Some fans don’t even think the £2.25m-rated winger is that talented in the first place. One fan speculates that the club will ship him out in January.
Think this is the first thing we’ve ever agreed on

Heard he is leaving in January Gav, Maguire also is away

A few fans don’t think he is the biggest problem, though. There are countless other priorities that the team needs to address. They would like to see McGeady stay and help the team achieve promotion this season.
This conundrum is the least of our worries at the min
The whole team is desperately out of form at the min. Got no full backs, can’t keep a clean sheet, can’t afford to keep our first choice keeper, no pace in the midfield, can’t create chances, forwards can’t even score a pen— John Mitchell (@JohnMi7chell) November 20, 2019

What do we think?
If McGeady wants a future at Sunderland, it appears he must start performing. It surely won’t be long before Parkinson gives up on the player. However, it won’t be long before the board gives up on Parkinson himself. The whole dressing room has a lot to fight for. Mainly, and most importantly, the fans.
