The Rangers Youth team have been on a hot streak of form at the moment, beating their Glaswegian rivals 5-0 on the weekend (Rangers). The future looks promising for the young Gers and subsequently Steven Gerrard should he continue to manage Rangers for a few more generations.

One of the main men behind the success of Rangers’ youth setup is Graeme Murty. He joined the club back in 2016 to work for the Rangers Academy, but had a short stint as caretaker manager in 2017. Murty is back in charge of the youth team now, however (Rangers).

Rangers tweeted out that they would be conducting a Q&A with the Head Development Coach and Gers fans had plenty of questions for him. Many people asked Murty about his takeaways from managing the first team. One fan asked what the most valuable part of the experience was, while another asked which job he believes he is best suited for. Someone even asked about the influence the current first team has on the youth players, noting that the young Gers appear to be enamoured by Alfredo Morelos.

Others are more concerned about knowing his plans for the future. While one fan just wants to know if Murty believes the team can beat Wrexham, a few others want to know how soon the youth players could be introduced into the first-team setup. They point towards Ajax as being a model for success. One specifically asks Murty if he has learned anything from the current first-team boss, Steven Gerrard.

What do we think?

Most fans seem to be happy with the progress of the youth team setup at Rangers. Murty has done a great job whipping his boys into shape. However, some fans want to see the players progressing to the first team quicker. If they do, perhaps they will be playing like Ajax soon enough?
