Last year, Aberdeen demanded up to £10 million for Scott McKenna when the player was being monitored by Swansea City. The defender was in hot demand at the time with Hull City also interested in securing his services (Daily Record).
After the match between Scotland and Kazakhstan this week, Rangers fans looked back on Aberdeen’s crazy valuation of the player. They couldn’t believe Aberdeen were willing to be so greedy when Rangers supporters clearly don’t rate the centre-back. They think the extent of the demand is a joke. Either that or Aberdeen missed a decimal point.
Couldn’t lace Connor Goldsons boots

You wouldn’t even pay a tenth of that for him, absolutely hopeless

Wrong decimal point……0.1 Million..

Goldson and Katic must be worth £30m each

It’s a joke, but not a funny one. A sick one that goes way below the belt.

To put the figure into perspective, Rangers fans compared the 23-year-old’s proposed fee to some of their own players. Rangers managed to secure Connor Goldson, Filip Helander, Nikola Katic and George Edmundson for a combined £9.5 million, according to one fan – a figure backed up by transfermarkt.co.uk. They reckon that a player like Katic would go for a lot more than McKenna.
To put Aberdeen wanting £10M for Scott McKenna in perspective:
Connor Goldson (at 25yo), Filip Helander (26yo), Nikola Katic (at 22yo), and George Edmunson (at 21yo), cost £9.5M.

Katic

McKenna rises to decent in an eight man defence. Any other times he is consistently atrocious. £10m is laughable.

What do we think?
At the end of the day, Rangers fans will just be happy to have the brilliant players that they have. So far this season the team’s defence has proven itself as one of the best in the league. They have only conceded seven goals in 12 League matches. McKenna and Aberdeen, however, have conceded 15 and 13 (Sky Sports).
