It was just another routine win for Rangers Youth as they waltzed past their Glaswegian rivals in convincing fashion on the weekend (Rangers). The result was a great sign of things to come from the next generation of Rangers talent.

Goals from Leon King, Nathan Young-Coombes, Ross McCausland, Kai Kennedy and Ciaran Dickson all added to the result. But there was one goal in particular that stood out from the rest for these Rangers fans. King’s goal was a well-placed shot from just outside the top of the box. These supporters applauded the composed finish, with the defender stepping into the shot with the inside of his right foot.

Some fans see King making the step up to the first team, assuming Rangers can keep a hold of him. There have been reports that Liverpool, Chelsea and RB Leipzig are all interested in signing the player once he becomes old enough (The Athletic).

What do we think?

The strike from King showed a lot more than just his technical ability. The clever side-footed finish highlighted the player’s great composure and decision making. While many would have smashed the ball with their laces in that scenario, King simply guided it home. Hopefully, for the young defender, his chance will come soon enough. But at 15 years of age, he still has a lot of development to go, despite showing composure beyond his years on the weekend.
