Some Nottingham Forest fans feel that new goalkeeper Brice Samba should be part of the club’s Team of the Decade.

Samba, who joined the club from French club Caen this past summer, was included in the Team of the Season so far by WhoScored recently. So far this season, Samba has managed to keep four clean sheets for the club in the Championship.

A debate on Twitter was started by defender Joe Worrall last night and the Englishman posted his own Team of the Decade for Forest. Many fans reacted to it and felt that Samba should be part of the side – like he was for the centre-back.

The City Ground outfit signed Samba from Ligue 2 side Caen this past August for an undisclosed fee on a four-year contract. But as per Transfermarkt, he had arrived for a fee of £1.7 million (€2.1million).

Since arriving, the Frenchman has played a total of 11 times in the Championship and has conceded only nine goals so far. He has also scored twice in the League Cup, keeping a clean sheet in both of them.

Before arriving though, he had played once in Ligue 2 for Caen. Last season, he played for the club in the Ligue 1 for the club. He racked up a tally of 38 appearances, keeping nine clean sheets throughout the season. He conceded 54 goals too.

For the Team of the Decade debate, many of them also wanted striker Lewis Grabban in the current side.

So far this season, Grabban has been the club’s highest scorer in the league. He has found the back of the net seven times, assisting once as well in 15 Championship games.

What do we think?

While there is no doubt that Samba has been in impressive form for Forest this season, he has been crucial in helping them keep a solid defence. He is one of the reasons why the club has the second-best defence in the league, having conceded only 13 goals in the Championship. These performances go a long into showing why he is already being considered as one of the men of the last ten years, despite only setting foot in Nottingham recently.

Having said that, he has to prove himself in the long-term to stake a claim into the Team of the Decade. It is, perhaps, still too early for that.
