These Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to respond to negative comments made by former-manager Rafa Benitez on the current state of the team.
This wave of criticism came after Newcastle news Twitter account @ChronicleNUFC shared a post that contained an article from their website that included the quotes made by Benitez (BBC Radio 5 Live Euro Leagues podcast).
This post then gathered a large number of replies from Newcastle fans who were not too happy with the Spaniard’s comments.
Here’s a sample of Newcastle fans criticising Benitez’s words on the club:
If he spent less time talking about us and the premier league he might actual turn his China money trip into a success

Concentrate on your own job greedy guts, we are ticking along nicely thankyou

Is Rafa missing being a coach in an elite league rather than being a coach in a league sunderland could probably win. Bottom half premier league club with not much to spend or bottom half Chinese club it was your choice Mr Benitez

The former Newcastle manager left the club at the end of last season after finishing 13th in the league and has since joined Chinese side Dalian Yifang. In three years in charge of the Magpies, the 59-year-old managed 148 games for the club, picking up a points per match average of 1.48 (per Transfermarkt). Yet with these latest comments, some Newcastle fans have decided to turn on their former boss and stick up for current manager Steve Bruce.
Yawn. Get over the kid man! He’s yesterday’s news. We’ve moved on ages ago. We have a manager who had unnecessary abuse to start with but has done a brilliant job and is doing BETTER than Rafa did this time last year. #SteveBrucesMags

This geezer is getting on my nerves now. Why is he so concerned with Newcastle. Needs to concentrate on his current job not his previous one

Wants to be near his family blah blah blah and how can people say he was in the same league as Keegan & Sir Bobby… Pardew was a better manager

What do we think?
Benitez’s decision to leave Tyneside in favour of China may not have gone down too well with his supporters at Newcastle. But these latest comments have somewhat tarnished his time at the club in some fans’ minds.
