Liverpool fans on Twitter have been sharing their disappointment in Joe Gomez’s performance in Tuesday’s victory over KRC Genk in the Champions League.
Despite winning the game 2-1 and securing all three points, certain Liverpool fans were quick to notice the below-par performance from the Englishman.
This performance then led to these Liverpool fans tweeting their opinions on Gomez after the match.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans unhappy with Gomez:
I must say Gomez are a poor game today. His positioning was poor on a few occasions, and we were lucky not to concede another. TAA had a decent game though.

Seems to have lost a yard of pace. That used to get him out of trouble

The 22-year-old has made 10 appearances for Liverpool so far this season, with the majority of his minutes (207) being played in the Champions League (per Transfermarkt). But despite Gomez ending up on the winning side, his overall performance was disappointing, resulting in the Englishman earning a rating of 6/10, according to The Mirror, the lowest of any Liverpool player.
Other Liverpool fans also noticed Gomez’s poor display.

What do we think?
The injury to Joel Matip has allowed Gomez to get some much-needed game time for Liverpool. The problem is now that he doesn’t seem to be improving with each appearance, which is what he needs to do if he wants to secure his place next to Virgil van Dijk in Liverpool’s defence, with Dejan Lovren also in contention.
