Liverpool fans on Twitter have been sharing their disgust with the boos Joe Gomez received during his England appearance against Montenegro.

This comes after Liverpool journalist James Pearce shared a post on his official Twitter page claiming this hate towards Gomez “represents a new low for English football”.

This tweet then gathered many replies from Liverpool fans who were quick to share the same sentiments.

Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans shocked by Gomez’s reception:

The Liverpool defender has been in the news this week after a training ground bust-up with England teammate Raheem Sterling, which ended with the Manchester City winger being dropped by Gareth Southgate for yesterday’s 7-0 victory over Montenegro. Sadly, Gomez came on as a sub in the match only to be welcomed by a wave of boos and jeers from numerous England supporters.

These actions did not go down well with some Liverpool fans.

What do we think?

England fans booing Gomez is wrong. After the match ended, Sterling came out and tweeted his own disgust at the fans booing Gomez. The reason why some fans felt the need to boo Gomez is unclear and still up for interpretation. But considering the clash between the two players was put to bed earlier in the week, these boos have added another layer to the situation unnecessarily.
