Liverpool fans on Twitter have been sharing their disgust with the boos Joe Gomez received during his England appearance against Montenegro.
This comes after Liverpool journalist James Pearce shared a post on his official Twitter page claiming this hate towards Gomez “represents a new low for English football”.
This tweet then gathered many replies from Liverpool fans who were quick to share the same sentiments.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans shocked by Gomez’s reception:
It’s Liverpool vs the rest of England

We’re bigger than all of England

Liverpool are being hated again, which speaks volumes about how successful and unbearable we’ve become! But that booing by England fans is just not acceptable, by any standards or reasons!

The Liverpool defender has been in the news this week after a training ground bust-up with England teammate Raheem Sterling, which ended with the Manchester City winger being dropped by Gareth Southgate for yesterday’s 7-0 victory over Montenegro. Sadly, Gomez came on as a sub in the match only to be welcomed by a wave of boos and jeers from numerous England supporters.
These actions did not go down well with some Liverpool fans.
Standard England fan behaviour. Never really get booing your own players. Weird

And people wonder why a lot of fans dont support or watch the national team. Absolutely disgusting behaviour.

I’d call it disgraceful. #scousenotenglish

Ridiculous.

What do we think?
England fans booing Gomez is wrong. After the match ended, Sterling came out and tweeted his own disgust at the fans booing Gomez. The reason why some fans felt the need to boo Gomez is unclear and still up for interpretation. But considering the clash between the two players was put to bed earlier in the week, these boos have added another layer to the situation unnecessarily.
